Eni choose Svanehoj safety instrumentation for another FLNG project

news-details

After the successful Coral Sul FLNG project in Mozambique, Eni is expanding operations in the Coral gas field with a replica of the Coral Sul called Coral Norte. Again, Svanehøj will be a part of the project – delivering safety instrumentation to monitor the stored LNG.

Natural gas is a crucial energy source to accompany the technological development along the decarbonization pathway. The Coral South project, located offshore the Cabo Delgado Province of Mozambique, was a significant step in helping secure global natural gas supplies with a liquefaction capacity of 3.4 million tons per year.

After successfully initiating the Coral Sul FLNG project, the energy company Eni will build a replica called Coral Norte FLNG – only 25 kilometers north of the Coral Sul. The new facility will involve six production wells and a subsea production system to carry gas to the FLNG vessel. It will be able to produce 3.5 million tons of LNG a year.

Based on previous success, Eni has chosen Svanehøj as the supplier of safety instrumentation. Svanehøj will deliver a density monitoring system composed of eight LTD gauges, a PLC acquisition system, and rollover predictor software.

- We have received an order similar to the solution we delivered for the Coral Sul. We are proud to be chosen for this second project as it shows that we have the right solutions and expertise to meet our client's expectations, says Fabrice Vandewalle, Sales Manager at Svanehøj.

Svanehøj's safety instrumentation measures and records density and temperature profiles at various pre-configured levels in the storage tanks while also detecting potential LNG layer stratification. The rollover prediction software enables onboard operators to adjust the regasification process easily and modify LNG transfer rates if needed and under controlled conditions.

Svanehøj will deliver the LNG safety equipment in Q1 2025, while Eni expects liquefication and export from the Coral Norte to commence in 2027.
